Highlands Ski Area Highlands Northfield, NH 1939-1995 Note - this page has been "flagged" as needing a major update, but most of the below information is correct. Highlands mountain started in the late 1930's as a hike up and ski down area, with an interesting novice/intermediate trail. It reopened in the mid 1960's with a summit and mid mountain T-bar and a rope tow. This rope tow was replaced with a poma and eventually a pony tow.
